Enjoy the kilometre-long white sandy beaches at Tversted and Skiveren.
The beaches are ideal for children and have tall dunes and a shallow coastline. There is of course a Blue Flag on each of the beaches. The beach is well worth a visit at any time of the year.
Did you know that there are more hours of sunshine in this part of the country? This is because we're situated on the leeside of the mountains of southern Norway, which means that the rain from the moist Atlantic air falls over the fells, and the resulting dry air blows down towards Vendsyssel, thus ensuring cloudless skies.
During the summer you can bathe, play, play ball games and laze in the sunny hollows in the dunes. The beach is an ideal place to go for a walk at any time of year and to enjoy the bracing westerly winds.
Take a pair of binoculars with you and observe the many ships that sail through Skagerak.
You can fish on the beach and in the stream of Uggerby å
In the dunes there's a rich diversity of plants and birds. There are many rare plants, including several species of orchid. In the dune plantation and municipal plantation there are good opportunities to gather wild berries, plants and wild mushrooms. If you're an angler, you can fish sea trout, cod and flatfish directly from the beach. Uggerby å offers plenty of good fishing spots. The stream is known for its good fishing waters, and facilities include a fishing platform for disabled users.

Our beaches have the Blue Flag
The Blue Flag campaign is an international environmental campaign that aims to ensure a cleaner marine and coastal environment, and to increase the general safety, service and quality of the beaches and sea for your benefit as a visitor.
Blue Flag beach
The Blue Flag beach is characterised by its cleanliness and the fact that it's regularly inspected, has a waste disposal scheme, has clean bathing water and information about the current water quality.
There are clean toilet facilities, life-saving equipment, first-aid box and telephones.
The Blue Flag is lowered should acute pollution occur.
During the summer you can see the sun rise and set in the same sea at the beach at Tversted Strand.
